My Sister the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite

I loved this book so much that I read it and listened to it again on the BBC Sounds app.

It is a wonderfully wicked story about the relationship between two sisters Korede and Ayoolah – complete opposites in manner and appearance.

Unfortunately for Korede, Ayoolah’s boyfriends seem to have a habit of disappearing…

The Stranger Diaries by Elly Griffiths

Murder in a High school English department!

This novel is totally engrossing and so much fun, it got me through a tough week at work.

Told from different character perspectives, the plot weaves itself together very cleverly.

‘The Stranger’ short story itself is really sinister and enjoyable as an example of gothic fiction. It forms the background to the story as one of the texts taught on an English course. I can’t believe that the writer R.M.Holland is not real, I was so sucked in!

This is great fun! Happy Reading πŸ“ƒ

Here are some great ideas for True Crime podcasts to get stuck into!

These examples are more suitable for higher levels but even lower level students can put the radio in the background while you are cooking/cleaning/whatever and just see what you can pick up on. Your ear will gradually become attuned to this.

Happy listening! 🎧

The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix

This book was so so so much fun! And sinister fun at that! After a tough few weeks at work this was the perfect form of pure escapism. It has some fresh ideas to add to the vampire genre and a few bits that are so squeamishly horrifying that I will never be able to erase them from my mind.

This is a definite must for fans of vampires and great fun even if you’re not. It’s bloody brilliant!

Happy reading! πŸ“š
