Blue Bookworm’s top tips!

Try the ‘shadowing’ technique to help improve your intonation and pronunciation.

Find an audio file of your choice and the written script, to begin with, a short file of about 1 minute is a good place to start. Perhaps a short news story or the beginning of an audio book.

Read along in time with the audio file and really focus on how you pronounce the words using the audio as a template.

(When you can recall it, do the text from memory.)

Inspired to try Korean food!

I’m currently reading The Last Story of Mina Lee by Nancy Jooyoung Kim (review to follow) and the way she writes about food is mesmerising! All the dishes sound like they are bursting with flavour, the tanginess of the sea or the charcoal crunch of grilled meat. It makes my stomach rumble to read.

I enjoy a lot of Asian food but I have never tried Korean.

The article below is a little out of date but showcases some of the best places to try in the north west.
